About East Sooke
Welcome to East Sooke, British Columbia, Canada.
East Sooke is a rural unincorporated community located on the most south-west tip of Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. It consists of over 600 households and a population of roughly 1600. Situated on the south side of the Sooke Basin, East Sooke borders on East Sooke Regional Park.
East Sooke's rural character consists of small residential subdivisions, larger properties, farms, and wilderness. Its close proximity to Victoria and surrounding communities, as well as natural wilderness parks, lakes and oceans, makes East Sooke an ideal destination for tourism and recreation.
East Sooke has no town core, but located at the main intersection of East Sooke, there is a single convenience store and postal outlet where one can purchase everything from milk to household and emergency supplies, as well as animal feed.
East Sooke is governed by a Regional Director who is also responsible for other unincorporated areas in the Juan de Fuca Capital Regional District. There is a volunteer fire department run by the East Sooke Fire Improvement District.
There are no schools in East Sooke, so children are bussed to schools in Sooke School District 62 or are home-schooled.
