East Sooke Business Association
ESBA Supports East Sooke Business through the Blackberry Festival
Here is a golden opportunity to support a local event, while raising the profile of your business within the community of East Sooke.
The East Sooke Blackberry Festival is a daylong community event that we hope to hold annually. With a small one time grant from the CRD, and support from businesses, community groups and individuals we hope to ensure its sustainability.
We are offering you as an East Sooke Business the opportunity to:
- Tell people about the products and/or services that they provide by renting a table at the Blackberry Festival and sharing information or bringing their products to sell.
- Raise your business profile by donating cash, prizes, materials, or services needed by the festival, and receiving recognition on our website and at the festival.
- Volunteer and become better known throughout the community. Show your appreciation for the community in which you conduct your business.
More Festival Information
The big festival sign is going up at either entrances to the community, followed by smaller signs around mailboxes, etc. The website has been set up through www.eastsooke.ca, and in early September there will be an article in the Rural Observer. Our e-mail address has been set up at .
There are businesses and volunteers already working hard on the East Sooke Blackberry Festival. Noella LeDrew has been setting up our web page at www.eastsooke.ca/blackberry_festival and will add details to the events page as things evolve. There will also be an ever-changing list of things that we need, donated or cheap, to run the festival as listed below. Should you need webmaster services, please or phone her at 889-4100.
John Corsiglia of Kingfisher Press has given his time in penning the first line of our Blackberry Limerick Contest. Contestants will be asked to complete the limerick for a prize.
Jeri Grant of Grant’s Cleaning will be making blackberry tarts and (wo)manning the kitchen on festival day. I hear that she may come up with a giant 3-D blackberry as well!
